MILWAUKEE, WI – An 11-year-old boy died on Wednesday from injuries sustained when a hit-and-run driver struck him on his bicycle three days before.
The incident happened on Sunday, August 27, around 3:15 p.m. near the intersection of West Fond du Lac Avenue and Capitol Drive, which is just southeast of Midtown Center.
The investigation indicates that a Dodge and a Lexus were racing on West Fond du Lac Avenue when the Lexus struck the victim as he was riding his bicycle with a friend. Both vehicles left the scene of the crash.
Medics performed CPR on the 11-year-old victim and transported him to a local hospital, where he died a few days later.
The driver of the Lexus, identified as 30-year-old Sylvester Thomas, turned himself into the police on Monday. Police charged him with second-degree homicide.
