Narrative
PORTAGE, WI – At least one person sustained critical injuries in a two-vehicle crash along the highway in east Portage on Wednesday.
The accident happened around 2:30 p.m. on WI-33, or the 84th Division Railsplitters Memorial Highway, at Garrison Road, which is northwest of Swan Lake Tamaracks State Natural Area.
Police haven’t yet shared any details about the accident except to say that medics airlifted one person to a hospital in Madison with critical injuries. It’s unclear if anyone else was hurt in the collision.
Officials closed WI-33 in the area of the accident for just over three hours while crews investigated and worked to clear the scene.
