Cyclist dies after getting hit by car on State Highway 78 in Sauk County

SAUK COUNTY, WI – A vehicle crash on State Highway 78 took the life of a cyclist around 12:50 pm Thursday.

A Sauk County press release said the collision happened near Goette Rd in Merrimac. 

The cyclist was riding east on the highway, when for some unknown reason they lost control of their bike and entered the highway. Shortly after, a car hit them, and they suffered life-threatening injuries and was killed at the scene.

The driver was not injured. The Sauk County Sheriff’s Department’s have not released the names of the cyclist or driver in this investigation.
